Earlier this month I was a co-presenter at IFANCA’s Halal & Healthy Nutrition Workshops we’ve been conducting around Chicago.
It’s the second year of our workshops and so far they’ve been great- well attended with highly-engaged audiences of children and adults throughout the Muslim community.
I talk healthy eating and recipes where Asma Ahad, Food Scientist at IFANCA, talks the food science of why products are certified halal and what the food industry does to food in order to enhance flavors, perfect product or conserve the shape of products, particularly when there are huge volumes being produced.
IFANCA has a raffle in which they give away a Rachel Ray pot to one winner and everyone who completes the survey gets IFANCA branded oven mitts. Asma Ahad models both below…
The event recently at IFS (Islamic Foundation School, Villa Park) was a huge success, but we all agree that the volunteers, young men from the IFS community, were the best help ever. They responded immediately to our requests and worked fast- couldn’t have asked for a better crew. Thanks, guys!
