The Whitestone Foundation Survey

I’m normally not big on taking surveys because they don’t typically seem to have any affect on my life or on how businesses speak to my needs. I’ve been introduced to one, however, that is trying to do just that- figure out what our needs are so that they can be addressed with resources specific to our uniquely American Muslim community. And that is just who we are here at My Halal Kitchen- a community who gathers around the common interest of wholesome food, lifestyle and around a complete value system that is precious to us. But is anyone outside of this paying attention to what matters to us in the broader sense?

That said, I hope you don’t mind that I thought we as a community could participate in an important survey offered by a new nonprofit called The Whitestone Foundation.  Their goal is to identify and address the needs of the American Muslim Community, and they’re depending on us to tell them what we feel is missing in it.

They are looking to identify what’s missing and will provide grants to promising community initiatives, as well as develop an idea exchange platform for everyone who is active within the Muslim community. For example, if you think women need to have a more prominent role in the masjid, this is your chance to let your voice be heard; if you feel that marriage counseling, social activities, legal and financial services, youth mentorship, book clubs, and the like are important services that need to be offered within the community then let them know by taking the survey.

This is the time for your voice to be heard, for our voices to be heard.

Your responses are crucial in determining which initiatives they will support and will help them formulate a strategic roadmap that outlines and assesses the current needs and resources of our community. Would you like to help them help our communities around the country?
